We talk about everything on Twitter, especially the things we are watching on TV. It is for this very reason it would seem that TV ratings experts Nielsen and Twitter are joining forces to create Nielsen Twitter TV Rating. This is set to be an industry standard metric to monitor chatter about certain shows and visibility of such chatter among other Twitter users.
The exact details of this new initiative are currently vague but this is a major partnership that is set to make quite an impact. It will give a deeper insight into the viewerships and opinions of certain shows and may revolutionize the entertainment industry going forward. However, this will not come into effect until Fall of 2013 so we will have to make do with TV as it is for a little while longer.
